Decorum & Game Management

• Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your game time.  Notify the game director that you and your crew are on site.  Plan to be on the field 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time as there could be an early start depending on upon weather conditions.
• Make sure the crew is color coordinated. (Heather gray or charcoal gray pants, color of Little League umpire shirt, etc)
• Games are the umpire responsibility at the starting handshake.  Make sure you have one.
• Lightning is the umpires' call once the game begins, but we should maintain close contact with the game director when there is lightning in the area.  The duration of stoppage is the umpire's call with guidance from the director.  Prior to the start of the game, it is the director's call.
• Presentations provided by Jim Smith, District Umpire Consultant, are attached to this page (scroll to the bottom).
• Patches are required per LL rules.
• In the event of an ejection / any other unusual incidents, please call Eric Stonesifer or Jim Smith immediately after game. Email Eric AND me AND Earle an Ejection Report (and on the PA District 22 web site).
• Please review Tournament rules pertaining to the Division you are umpiring prior to game time.
  

You'll find links to maps for all of the fields here.  I've done my best to verify that they are accurate. If you find an error or have a recommendations for improvements, please pass it on.

There are special rules for tournaments in the rulebook.  Changes to the rules are highlighted on the Little League website.  You'll also find important changes in the Umpires Tournament presentation down below.

Ejections

An ejection report (due within 24 hours of an ejection) is online here.  Simply copy the heading information off of the page, paste it into an email message, fill it in to the best of your ability (i.e., be factual, not emotional), and send it to me.

Pregame Conference Guidelines

We have some guidelines here and there are District guidelines in the presentations below.

General attire is defined on our Dress page.  I will be happy to provide reasonable clothing or equipment requests.  Provide requests directly and as soon as you see the need.

Positioning

Since we often work as 3- and 4-man crews, Little League provides some excellent guides to Field Mechanics, for anyone new or rusty on them.  We've copied them here for you.

You must work games at each level to rise to the States.

Volunteer Info Sheet

New volunteers need to provide the following information:

Name, Home Phone, Cell Phone, Work Phone, General Work Location, Email, Shirt Size, Address, Spouse First Name

New Volunteer applications with a copy of your drivers license are required.
