Umpire Jim's Quick-10, Handy Dandy, Safety Rule RemindersBrought to you by your friendly head umpire, the following rules are required by all Little League programs and are intended to maximize your child's safety and to make sure this is always a kid's game.
1. Players may not wear ANY jewelry or metallic items except medical alerts. Taped earrings are not allowed.
2. Male players must wear athletic supporters, commonly called jock straps. Catchers must wear a cup.
3. Helmets must not be modified with paint or decals of any kind. Only Little League approved helmets are permitted. If parents would like a helmet with a facemask, please request one from the league.
4. There is no on-deck position in the T-ball, Rookies, Minor, or Major divisions. Players must remain seated without bats until it is their time to bat.
5. There are no bat-boys or bat-girls permitted.
6. Players (and umpires) may not wear casts on the field, but players may sit with their teams if they are in uniform.
7. Warm-up catchers must have a cup, mitt, and mask, too. Catchers for fielding practice must wear a mask and helmet.
8. Catcher's masks must have a dangling throat guard. 9. Adults may not warm up catchers, even in slow games.
10. Little League has greatly expanded its lightning guidance. Umpires, managers, and coaches should review Appendix A of the rulebook for full details.
Umpires are there to provide a safe, fun, and consistent game experience. We welcome your support and hope you have a wonderful season with Cheltenham Little League.
Be safe. Have fun. PLAY BALL!
